The Dos and Don’ts of Traveling on a Private Jet

The Dos and Don’ts of Traveling on a Private Jet

For most of us, extravagant air travel can mean flying business class or first class—flying privately might not even cross our minds. But have you ever thought about taking control of your travel and enjoying all of the perks and luxurious amenities associated with flying privately?

It can be intimidating for some people, but knowing what to expect and the rules that apply to chartering private flights can help demystify the process. Here are the dos and don’ts of traveling on a private jet.

Please Be on Time

Flying commercially means you need to arrive two hours or more early for check-in. The beauty of private air travel lies in its simplicity. There are virtually no steps from arriving at the airport to reaching the door of your plane. Generally, you’ll want to arrive up to 30 minutes before your flight’s departure to allow your crew to make final preparations for an on-time departure. And remember, since someone else has likely chartered the plane after you, if you are late, it could delay the next customer. Of course, there are things none of us can control, so if you are running a bit late, simply pick up the phone and let us know so that we can alert your pilots.

Know How Much You Can Bring With You

Even though you might think chartering a private jet can give you the capability to bring as many bags as you want, that’s not necessarily true. Private jets are smaller than larger commercial aircraft, so they typically hold less baggage per passenger. You’ll want to ask about any limitations during the booking process.

Don’t Forget Your ID

While you can bypass traditional airport security lines, you’ll still need photo identification to fly, and if you’re flying internationally, you’ll also need to bring your passport and follow all entry requirements for your destination. The nice perk about an international private flight is being able to skip the lines since custom agents will typically board the plane to check your documents or direct you to a private screening area.
